Hey guys how’s it going? Weekly Check-in time where I focus on reviewing my backlist but also focus on media that I have avoided randomly.

Because of this, I watched 3 TV shows and 3 Anime. I also read 7 volumes of manga. Onto the Media!!!
TV Show
Rewatch and Continuation
Carnival Row

Whoop!! Boy, I rewatched and caught up with this show this past week and I certainly forgot a lot of details but also, I had forgotten how politically intriguing it was. So many creatures, morally gray and otherwise, lush world-building, and intense plot pieces that come together so seamlessly. I am curious to see how they end this series but also its one I can rewatch again if I want something similar to Game of Thrones but less of an undertaking for binge watching. Because of these points, I have to give this series a 4.5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi š£š£š£š£š£.
Continuations
Ghosts

This show continues to be hilarious and fun especially with all of the character development. I think though its one that I want to bank several episodes of though because it just makes me smile rather than watch from week to week. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi š£š£š£š£.
ER

The episodes that I am watching currently are ones that I sort of remember watching when I was little. They are emotional but at the same time informative as well. I wonder if the current medical shows have used this one as a model and expanded upon it (or made it less medical based more personal based). Anyhow, I am still excited to continue on. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4.5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi š£š£š£š£š£.
Anime
Noblesse

UMMMMMM What is this.????? It is definitely an intriguing show with a ton of humerous lines and interesting characters. However, I feel that when I started this show, that I missed some important aspects of the stories that the characters are talking about. Overall, though I am still curious how this series is going to turn out. Because of these points, I have to give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars or 3 sushi š£š£š£.
Toilet bound hanako kun

This anime is one that I was surprised by to say the least. The animation is intriguing and interesting, the characters are unique. The plot is twisty and unexpected as well. There are unexpected emotions that I felt while watching that made me feel more three-dimensional about the world. Highly recommend if you have not tried this series to try it now. 5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi š£š£š£š£š£
Ranking of Kings

My Goodness this anime!!! I can definitely see why this is an underrated favorite. I love the fantastical atmosphere (if you loved the first season of the original Seven Deadly Sins it has that atmosphere to me). The characters were also interesting (a lot more flawed than what I was expecting) although some of it was a bit disgusting. The Japanese Sign Language was also very clear and beautiful although some of the aspects of the main character being able to lipread sometimes was unbelievable. Overall, I am truly excited if there is a season 2 and I would recommend this if you love fantasy stories 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi š£š£š£š£.
Manga
Series Starters
The Lines that Define Me

This was an interesting story that involves Ink painting and adult relationships. I appreciate the artstyle of the characters and the paintings. I am truly curious to see how the series continues on and I think if you appreciate Blue Period and I Hear the Sunspot, check this out. However, I think I wanted more to it than what was presented. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi š£ š£š£š£
Sunbeams in the Sky

This manga gave me So Cute it Hurts vibes but with a more serious undertone. (If you cannot handle Verbal abuse and males being rude to females this manga will not be for you. I appreciate the relationships and friendships between the characters, and I love the artstyle. However, I think that there is not much newness that this series brings to the manga table other than the serious undertone. Overall, though, I am curious what happens next but it’s in the back of my mind. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi š£š£š£š£.
Piano Duo for the Left Hand

This combines the feel of Midori Days and Your Lie in April with Lacordad’ro tendencies with a magical realism. There’s grief and a car accident visual, so keep that in mind if you want to read this…. some of the music is shown, but other times it’s not. I did, however, completely understand what was happening with the emotions, so if that’s something that worries you with music manga, I wouldn’t. I think my main issue that I am apprehensive about for the future of the series is how it will move forward in its plot and character development. I am curious but at the same time not going to be a top priority. Overall, though, I recommend this as a person who loves music and ghost stories. 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi š£ š£š£š£.
The Villainess Stans the Heroes

This manga is going to not be for everyone because of the rough start and how the reincarnation/world-building works. However, I think if you are looking for a new villainess story that is also an intense fangirl who doesn’t want to mess the main narrative up, this one could work for you. I am someone who has only read a couple of these stories so it may not be original, however I think the ending saved it for me in the fact that it got more interesting, and the world opened up more. Overall, though, I think its intriguing enough to continue reading but, I completely understand if you are not a fan. 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi š£š£š£š£.
Call the Name of the Night

This manga was definitely NOT what I was expecting but it was very adorable and intriguing. It gives me Studio Ghibli vibes and the artstyle is gorgeous. Its episodic but also has a small underlying plot involved. I think though, it’s not going to be for everyone as far as the whimsiness and how the next volume is going to continue on. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi š£š£š£š£.
Series Continuations
A Sign of Affection vols 4-5

I know I know you are probably wondering “Why is she still reading this series even though she doesn’t like the love interest???” The Deaf representation makes up for it truly. They continue to be in a romance of course in these volumes, but the reader also gets background information on the other characters and that kept me reading. However, volume 5 was too short and I was very disappointed. Because of these points, I am giving vol 4 4 out of 5 stars and volume 5 a 3.5 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi each š£š£š£š£.
The Week Ahead
The week ahead, I ended up starting some media that I didn’t consume enough to list on this weekly check-in that I want to continue on. What about you guys? What did you read, watch or listen to this week? Let’s talk about it!
