Weekly Check-in 09/10/2022-09/17/2022

Hey guys how’s it going? Weekly Check-in time where I spent most of my time being productive with other things instead of consuming media.

Because of this, my media consuming was a bit low these past two weeks with listening to one podcast while I was driving to and from work, watching a tv show with my parents, and reading one manga, graphic novel, and novella to relax at home. Onto the media!

Podcast

Dad Needs to Talk Podcast

I always love who Rob has as far as guests on the show plus his variety of fandoms and media is amazing. If you guys haven’t already checked this podcast out already, please do!!! I personally listen on Spotify on my drive back and forth but if you like YouTube videos, this is his channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/DadNeedsToTalk 5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣🍣🍣.

TV Show

ER

This show is becoming like the more modern shows. Everyone is getting angry, there’s underhandedness at play, and the hospital explodes. I wish the romances were more in the background like they used to be, but I have a feeling it’s just going up from here. Overall, though, I am still enjoying watching it with my dad and am curious to see what happens next 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Manga

Series Starters

Anyway…I’m falling in love with you

Thank you to Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for the opportunity to read and review this manga

I like how there’s a friendship with the characters right at the start instead of a buildup, I also like that there’s a swim team story thats not FREE. The plot also seems intriguing and fun as well especially with the realistic approach of 2020 and how high schoolers in Japan were handling it. My only only Issue is that all of the dudes  in this manga look the same to me so I don’t know who’s who!!! Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣. I’m excited to continue on.

Graphic Novel

The Prince and the Dressmaker

There is a reason that this graphic novel is very well-loved and important for young people trying to discover their sexuality. I also loved this graphic novel’s artstyle especially the fashion. I loved the moral lessons this presented and also how the story was pretty straightforward. I think my only issue was that it felt like the seamstress’s story needed to be more flushed out (maybe I am biased though) but overall I loved it and I highly recommend this for teen readers 4-4.5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣🍣.

Novella

Fall into You

This is a novella I have seen around, and I enjoyed it because it shows both the positive and negative aspects of being LGBTQIA+ in a conservative family. I also appreciated that the author put their content warnings at the front of the story. I think my only personal issue with this, was that I wished the love interest had a more flushed out perspective. Other than that, though, I would definitely recommend this. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣.

The Week Ahead

I will be honest you guys, lately I have had difficulty accomplishing anything “fun” at this point in time. Perhaps it’s because I know there is a lot of other things to do or because I want to do more things to make me not a lose a deadline, I have no idea. But because of that, I am not sure what my media consumption is going to turn out. What about you guys? What did you read, listen or watch these past two weeks? Let’s talk about it!!

If you want to support me and also want to request a specific blog post, please support me on my Kofi account:Β https://ko-fi.com/christinasushirainbow27269Β . I would appreciate it but there is no pressure at all. Thank you in advance.
