Hey guys how’s it going? Weekly Check-in time! I have consumed a ton of different kinds of media this week along with working.
Because of this, I watched one movie and two TV shows. I also listened to a podcast and read a graphic novel, a manga volume, and novel. Onto the media!!!
Movie Rewatch
Rewatching this movie again, I think I appreciated it better than I did before. Probably because of how much I learned about being Mexican American from primary sources during my college days, but I am not sure. I also had forgotten small details that were in the movie before that made this experience better as well. Because of these points, I have to give this movie a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.
TV Show
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
I have wanted to start this show for years, but I will be honest I was intimidated by it. Starting it this week though, I can see why people love it, but I feel like for me personally, I agonize over some of the plot holes that got presented throughout the four episodes I watched like I missed something somewhere. Overall, I enjoy the lore and characters so far, but I will take it step by step. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣🍣.
ER
This set of ER episodes hit me in my heartstrings because of my personal life but the main lesson I have learned from this set is that everyone deserves a voice no matter what. However, this also showed its age a few times because of some of the policies etc. Overall, though, I am still enjoying this series and I am excited to continue on. Because of these points, I have to give this show a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Chef’s Kiss
I think for me personally getting out of a reading slump, a graphic novel like this was perfect for me. I loved how there was a discussion on how difficult the job market can be for post-undergrad students. I also loved the indepth visual with the cooking. However, I feel like there were some moments that were unnecessary but others that needed to be flushed out (aka a volume 2 needs to happen please!!!) Overall though, I highly recommend this graphic novel if you haven’t already read it 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣

You’re My Cutie
I’ll be honest, the first chapter of this manga at first gave me a bad impression of how this series was to go especially since the dude was being so mean. However, it did get redeemed for me by the end of the manga because of the artstyle and better character interactions. Overall, I am curious to see how this series continues so because of these points, I have to give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣.

Call Me Maybe
Cara Bastone has been an author that I have thought her romances have had fantastic concepts and definitely can make my mood better. This one was my first one and I definitely was not disappointed. I read this through eBook rather than audio (which was what this series was originally) but personally I could visually/hear what the added audio sound effects would be plus the voices. I enjoyed the mystery aspect, I enjoyed the characters as a whole, but also, I loved the plot because it feels like a modern story that I would recommend to my mom. My mom enjoys wholesome romances that do not have a lot of steam so if you are interested in those check this author out. Overall, though, I love this series and am excited for more 5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣🍣.

This podcast is one that I wanted The Very Bookish Podcast to be. I love how honest these women are and how versatile their reading taste is. Their banter is also equal along with their details about books. Because of these points, I have to give this podcast a 5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣🍣.
