Hey guys how’s it going?? Weekly Check-in time! Where I celebrated my birthday, and went on my latest flying trip (under sad circumstance).

Because of this, I watched two movies and two TV shows along with one anime and a musical. I also read a ton with three graphic novels, one volume of manga, and five novellas. Onto the media!
Movie
Jerry and Marge Go Large

This was a cuter movie than what I was expecting, and the character dynamic was also intriguing too. I think though some may not be interested in it though because of some of the crude language. Overall, I would highly recommend it if you were looking for a biography themed movie about the lottery 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.
Weather Girl

This was a train wreck I couldn’t look away from. There were too many cringey moments plus a couple of the characters were just one dimensional. I did though, love the Bromance that occurred here. Because of these points, I have to give this movie a 2.5 out of 5 stars or 2 sushi 🍣 🍣.
TV Show
The Chef Show

This show is actually one I was watching at the nail salon (which was really cool) but I enjoyed watching this show. It ties to the Chef movie really well plus it presented lovely recipes at random small places like Guy’s Diners Drive-Ins and Dives and overall it was a ton of fun. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣.
ER

This show definitely was the pioneer when it comes to the dramatic hospital setting and doctor personal lives. I am also still enjoying the aspects of all the levels of doctors and patients and loving that as an adult, I know a ton of the medical terms now. Overall, though, it is really fun, and I am excited to continue on. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.
Anime
One Piece

I feel like these episodes of One Piece dove deep into Sanji’s background and childhood trauma and made me fall in love with him as a character. I also loved all of the conniving and twisting of the motivations with the rest of the characters too. It is really awesome and I am excited to watch more. 5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣🍣.
Musical
Frozen

OMG, I LOVED THIS MUSICAL!!!! I am so glad this musical enhanced the story rather than ruin it. I also loved the acting as well. There was a couple of nitpicky things that I would have personally changed but overall, I loved it so much. Because of these points, I have to give this a 5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣🍣.
Graphic Novel
Love and War

This has some of the feels of Check Please! and Fence but in a softer way. However, I wish there was more depth and flushed out characteristics. Because of these points , I have to give this a 3 out of 5 stars or 3 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣.
Batter Royale

This is a really adorable story that has a friendly competition, a small romance, and full of moral lessons for young people following their dreams. The art is adorable, there are also recipes with simple explanations on how to make the featured desserts, the reader can also understand the plot and is sweet. Overall, though, this was a ton of fun, and I would highly recommend it to middle schoolers who love baking. 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.
The Tea Dragon Society

This graphic novel is definitely worth the hype it recieves with its beautiful art, representation, and lush world-building. It is perfect for people who love studio ghibli and comics. My only issue was that I wanted more in this story because I loved it that much. Because of these points, I have to give it a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣.
Novella
When She’s Lonely

I am so glad that this was my first glimpse into this author’s work. Its not as intimidating to read as the novels for sure plus with own voices representation of hearing loss I needed to read this asap. This is a very well thought out world and the characters were fun to read about. I think my only issue was that I wanted only one time skip and not several. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣
Coming in Hot

This novella was definitely one to read during this holiday season. If you love forced proximity, a little bit of law enforcement action and brothers best friend this is for you. It also gives a nice lesson on how to unplug from work and live in the moment with who you love. My only issue was I feel like I needed to know about some of the characters before reading this because of this, I have to give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣.
Sweet Summer Nights

This was so adorable!!!! Essentially there was a ton of clumsy moves and small town feels. I loved the characters and I loved the progression of relationship. However, there were way too many romantic gestures for a novella. Because of these points, I have to give it a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣.
Mall American Girl

I truly love this series of mall novellas from Sarah Robinson and I have to say this one is my favorite so far. This is because I love the uniqueness of the characters and their development as events of the plot went on. I think my only issue was part of the plot didn’t feel properly closed. However, I think people will love it as much as I do. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣.
Burn the Ships

There’s a lot to unpack here but also, I need more people to read this romance personally. I think for especially authors who want to be more open minded with their writing of romance should also read this as well. I also would say to put this book with books that fulfill disability representation in a beautiful realistic way. But, Yes Yes there is a But but its not because I disliked it, I wanted more clarity with some of the scene transitions. I felt there were moments I wasn’t sure what was happening as far as the everyday life of the character. That could have been just how tired I was when I read it who knows so I am not docking points for that. I will however say that I wanted some more into the leading man’s head too, it was explained which was appreciated but I wanted more in his head rather than just the heroine. Overall, though, I really enjoyed this novella, and I would love to read more from this author. Because of these points, I have to give this 4.5 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣.
Manga
Series Starters
Don’t Toy with Me Ms.Nagatoro

This manga series is one that people are very polarized by. I can definitely see why it is. However, for me personally, I am curious about the main character’s mind works. I also wonder about the budding romance that could happen. Overall though, I see that this series could not be for everyone but! I am excited to continue on. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣.
The Week Ahead
For the week ahead, I will be honest, I do not think that I will be as productive as I was this past check-in but otherwise, I think that I will at least do a little bit of media consumption in the future. What about you guys? What did you read or watch recently? Let’s talk about it!
