Weekly Check-in 03/26/2022-04/02/2022

Hey guys how’s it going? Weekly Check-in time!!! I did a lot of social things these past two weeks, so because of that, I didn’t consume much media.

However, somehow I managed to watch two anime and two movies. I also read two volumes of manga, one novella and one novel. Onto the media!!

Movie

Emma

I have read this book and watched an older rendition of this, but I have to say this one was my favorite to date. It was straight forward, the costume and setting designs were flawless and the emotions expressed were just right. Overall, I would highly recommend this movie if you are looking for a faithful Emma adaptation 5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Dreamer

This was a fantastic movie that if you enjoy horse movies and want to know the ins and outs of the horse training/owning business. It was an all-star cast and straightforward in plot. I think this also is perfect for the whole family as well. Because of these points, I have to give this movie a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Anime

One Piece

Here’s my monthly update on one piece and I am still loving it so much!!!! Yes there are flaws like everything but it’s a very intriguing story and loveable yet crazy characters. I think my issue why its not going to beat out fairy tail for me is the recaps. They’re very annoying. Because of that, I have to give this group of episodes a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣🍣.

My Dress-up Darling

Ah this anime!!! It definitely elevates the manga in my personal opinion especially the dub. The characters are awesome plus learning about different photo and cosplay techniques is fun! I just wish that I wasn’t almost finished with it. Because of these points, I have to give this a 5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Manga

Series Starters

New Game!

This is a very sweet start of a story about a woman who is starting out her career in the STEM community as a game designer. I loved the facts that were presented but also, I enjoyed the comedy as well. It reminds me a ton of K-ON and Sunshine Sketch essentially cute girls having fun at their job. I think it’s a series that I will continue, however, since it is very similar to those stories as well, it’s one that I will not binge read. Because of these points, I have to give this manga a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Series Continuations

Dawn of the Arcana

I haven’t read this first volume in awhile (let’s say nine months) and I rediscovered the series again after getting it recommended to me at the bookstore this week. I enjoyed the action, the romance and the overall character development and dynamic that is being presented. However, I personally feel that the “magic” she’s supposed to possess should have been explained in the first volume and not here as an afterthought. Overall though, I am intrigued and excited to continue on in the series. 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣.

Novella

Stalked by the Kraken

This is a recommendation I got from Nessa and inloveandwords and i’m glad I read it.

This is a novella that if you want a wholesome paranormal romance with a variety of sexual adventurous content. I would highly recommend. However, there are some content warnings of human trafficking, infertility, pregnancy, some stalking, and verbal abuse. Its one that I can probably read over and over I believe plus I enjoy how the world building feels flawless but at the same time thoughtful and positive. Overall though, I highly recommend it and because of these points, I have to give this a 5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Novel

Charm Offensive

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Atria Books for the opportunity to read and review this

This book! Did I sleep on the hype?? Yes, yes, I did! However, I do feel that personally, that I read it at the exact right time for me personally. It discusses a ton about mental health as well as being queer or questioning. There are also a ton of fun quips in here that made me laugh out loud. I am not a fan of the Bachelor, or anything related to it for the most part, but I do appreciate the behind-the-scenes aspect that was presented in this story. Overall, I would highly recommend this story to anyone who has read Meant to Be: If the Shoe fits by Julie Murphy and wanted it Queer and deeper in the mental health aspect. Because of these points, I have to give it a 5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣🍣.

The Week Ahead

I have enjoyed all of this media. Because of that, I am enjoying just picking up what I want to without a set schedule. What about you guys? What did you read or watch this week? Let’s talk about it!
