Weekly Check-in 11/20/2021-11/27/2021

Hey guys how’s it going? Weekly Check-in time!!! These last couple of weeks for this Weekly check-in have been full of media consumption with Thanksgiving break also counting in here.

Because of that, I watched a couple of movies, two TV shows, and one anime. I also read two manga, two novellas, and two novels. Onto the Media!!!

Movie

All Nighter

This is a movie that I blindly watched with my dad and it was a crazy adventure of a movie. Trigger warnings for intense cursing, being stoned and drunk, and absent parent and relationship breakups. I liked the main character dynamic, some of the jokes didn’t land for me but I was thoroughly entertained overall. I also liked that the breakup was honest and true. Because of these points, I have to give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi  🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Movie Rewatch

Princess Bride

Watching this again this time with my parents and being an adult watching it, I can see why it is such a classic but at the same time, why not everyone likes it. The plot is simple, it has hilarious points, and there’s romance galore. For me its fine and my parents enjoyed it as well. It also stands the test of time. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Anime

One Piece

I had to update the one piece title because of the part of the arc I am in

These last two weeks, I just binged one piece anytime I didn’t want to read and whoa I went on an emotional roller-coaster. Yet it was amazing. I can definitely see now why everyone loves it so much. 5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

TV Show

Swap Shop

This is a new show my parents and I started watching and Netflix says it right when they say this is a combination of Pawn Stars and American Pickers. I enjoyed the variety of different people and items that were being shown and how with different episodes there were different buyers. My only issue was that I wish there was more variety and less morbidness at the start. Because of these points, I have to give it a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣.

The Wheel of Time

My dad and I started watching this series this week and so far my dad says “Its better than Shadow and Bone.” Which I have to agree with him as a person who hasn’t read either series, the wheel of time series is more interesting in magic etc. However, both series are valid. I am curious to see how this series continues on. Because of these points, I have to give this series a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Manga

Series Starters

Living Room Matsunaga-san

This is a manga series that I have put off for a while because I thought it would not be worth the hype. However, for me personally, I have to say the hype is real. The dynamic between the main characters is very hilarious yet endearing at the same time. I also loved how the boarding house situation was mostly adults and the younger student learns more about being an adult rather than the adults acting like children. Also, as a side note, Matsunaga-san is hot but again personal opinion. Overall, though, I am excited to continue on. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Series Continuations

My Darling Next Door

This series is more of a serious age gap friend/romance relationship. Its one of those that can be funny but most of the time at least right now there are a lot more misunderstandings between the two main characters than anything else. I like the dynamics and the artstyle as well as I am curious to continue more. However, I can definitely see why people wouldn’t like this series because of all the misunderstandings. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣.

Novella

Fearless

This is a novella that is definitely one that if you need to have music as well as a wintery romance. It also talks about coming out later in life and the consequences that could bring as well. I thought it was an especially cute story, however, I feel that there was not enough flushed out aftereffects of the relationship. Because of these points, I have to give this novella a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Pumpkin Spiced Love

This is definitely a nice fall novella for this season. This also is a baker romance so I would recommend eating before reading. I also have to say its perfect to me anyway on the amount of smut presented not too much and not too little. Overall though, if you’re looking for something fun and quick I would definitely recommend it for this fall. Because of these points, I have to give this novella a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣.

Novel

Write Before Christmas

This is one of those novels to me that combines the fans of Spoiler Alert and any of the baking romances out there. It has the small town hallmarkeqsue Christmas traditions, an older more closed down romance, and a ton of writer insights such as word count, what happens to the author once they sell the movie rights to their book, etc. With that aspect, I really enjoyed what it brought to the table. I also appreciated that it shows a leading lady creating her own second chance after divorcing her first husband of 20something years controlling their life and that she didn’t submit to the second love right away either. The only thing that I was not a fan of for this particular book is that some of the technology/ influencer careers on social media could date the book later. Overall though, this book is a lot of fun and I highly recommend it. Because of these points, I have to give this book a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

A Match Made for Thanksgiving

I knew that before the Thanksgiving break was over, I had to read this book. However, it was definitely not what I was expecting. It takes place during Canadian Thanksgiving. Hilarious, Sexy, and tons of food references!! I would highly recommend it to someone who just needs a sweet familial romance this holiday season. I am also thinking this will be a series I read a book every holiday to brighten them up. Overall, this was a ton of fun and I highly recommend it. 5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣🍣🍣

The Week Ahead

Ill be honest here,The week ahead may be very different but in a good way 🙂. We will just have to see though. What about you guys? What did you read or watch this week? Let’s talk about it!
