Weekly Check-in 11/06/2021-11/13/2021

Hey guys how’s it going? Weekly Check-in time! These last couple of weeks, I have gone slacking when it comes to my media consumption.

However, somehow I was able to watch one anime, one tv show, and one movie. I also was able to read two manga and two novels. Onto the media!

Movie

Bottom of the Ninth

This movie was very interesting in the fact that it shows how much a major mistake can impact your life sometimes for the better but most of the time it shows how much the consequences of that mistake can be. It was more profound and painful than I thought it would be to watch but the actors were amazing. I wished that also that there was a more satisfying ending. Overall though, if you like watching profound movies with baseball, this is definitely one to put on the list. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi šŸ£ šŸ£šŸ£šŸ£.

Anime

One Piece

So this story arc, was definitely a more spooky one with the undead and shadow play, but I have to say this particular arc was awful in the Villian department with the fat people being the bad guys plus the cruelty of the undead. I am also enjoying the feminist aspect of the next arc as well but I want my fave characters back (I like Luffy and the new characters buttt I want the other straw hats too!!) Overall though, I am enjoying this show still and I am excited to continue on. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi šŸ£šŸ£šŸ£šŸ£.

TV Show

Carnival Row

I wanted so much to love this show. The world and the characters are really awesome and unique. There was also a variety of mystery and drama as well as political intrigue. The only issue that I truly had with it was that I didn’t quite understand what the point of the plot was and was confused throughout. Because of these points, I have to give this show a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi šŸ£ šŸ£ šŸ£šŸ£.

Manga

Series Continuations

The Writer and the Housekeeper

This is a manga series where I love the relationship because of its honesty and smutty moments. The care that the writer takes is just so sweet. I think my only issue is that the women misunderstood a little too much plus I wanted it to be longer. Because of these points, I have to give this volume a 4.5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi šŸ£ šŸ£šŸ£šŸ£šŸ£

LDK

There was so much angst in this manga with an interloper etc. I can see why there are people who drop this series after this volume because it just turns the relationship dynamic differently than expected. Overall though I’m still curious about it so because of that I have to give this volume a 3.5 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi šŸ£ šŸ£ šŸ£šŸ£.

Novel

Created for Christmas

This is a book that has been on my list for about 5 years now and I think I was worried about how it was going to be whether it be too silly or too stereotypical etc. But, with an upcoming project I am doing with a couple of my dear friends, I decided to give it a shot. This is a story that has a ton of family Christmas traditions, nerdy superhero references, and of course some robot romance (as well as other romance). There is also a small little mystery that is involved but frankly its not really as big of a deal as the romance. It has a nerdy soft man character and a robot who is also a soft man with a lesson on how it is better to have companionship with people that appreciate who you are rather than who you create.  Overall, I loved reading this and it was definitely perfect for the start of the holiday season. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi šŸ£šŸ£šŸ£šŸ£

Well Matched

So of course this week, since I was having an intense work week, I needed something a familiar, yet at the same time new so I picked up Well Matched. I think this one and Well Met are pretty close for being my favorites in the series (I love Stacey as a person in Well Played but I think she didn’t get a flushed out relationship) Anyhow, back to Well Matched, for me personally I felt that I could most relate to April in her anxiety when it came to building a new relationship after the trauma of her previous one and making friends. I also love that we got to learn more about both lead characters and that it had depth with more than one facet of the stories. There’s also some moments where there was a lovely discussion about empty nesting/not having kids at all and it isn’t a bad thing which is not something usual in romances. Overall though, I wish I could just stay in this world and relive it over and over again (which I may during every ren faire season who knows) because of these points, I have to give this book a 5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi šŸ£ šŸ£ šŸ£šŸ£šŸ£.

The Week Ahead

The week/two weeks ahead probably will be catching up on some upcoming blog projects and just picking up what I think is easy and fun. What about you guys? What did you read or watch these past two weeks? Let’s talk about it!
