Weekly Check-in 10/23/2021-10/30/2021

Hey guys how’s it going? Weekly Check in time with two weeks worth of media consumption.

Because of this, I watched two movies and two anime. I also read two manga and two novellas. It is also the Halloween season so there is also some spookiness too. Onto the media!

Movie

Frozen Ground

This is based on a true story and trigger warnings for violence, rape, nudity, and bigotry. This is a movie that I just was watching with my dad not really watching until something awful happened and I was entranced (just to find out if it ended happily or not). Unfortunately, it was a mixed bag but overall the emotion in this movie was well done. Because of these points, I have to give this movie a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission

First I will let you know that you need to watch the series up to date before you watch this movie. I liked what the movie brought to the table especially with the new character. It also brought more depth than the previous season. However, I feel like this movie didn’t really answer any questions that the series left for me and added more questions for me for the future of the series. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣.

One Piece

These last two weeks, I watched a very intense story arc of One Piece discussing friendships and relationships as well as moving forward with the world-building. I think my only issue is all of the filler episodes that had the characters in a chibi form were not very good. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

My Hero Academia

Well I am a little annoyed haha! Not because of the characters oh no, I just felt like the plot just ended up being too disjointed/not making much sense. I hope the movie is better but I am still invested in the series. Because of these points, I have to give this ending of my hero academia a 3.5 out of 5 stars or 3 sushi 🍣🍣🍣

We Must Never Fall in Love

This manga series is if you are not interested in a stepbrother stepsister romance this isn’t for you. Otherwise though, I truly enjoyed the humor and character dynamics between the main characters along with the side characters. Overall though, I am curious what’s going to happen next and love the artstyle. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Series Continuations

My Dress-up Darling

This manga series is something that not everyone is going to like because of the nudity at points but with the relationship/friendship between the two main characters is so adorable and it shows that their relationship is going to progress for awhile (in a good way). However, I think this is a series that I will need to be in the mood for in order to continue on and not binge it constantly. Because of these points, I have to give this manga volume a 3.5 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Novella

Crazy,Sexy, Ghoulish

This novella is not something that I expected to read this week. Its not smutty, (or if it is it is closed door just for your information). It’s packed full of horror references (either fictional or realistic) that for someone who might be squeamish to those sort of things might want to stay away from but for me, it was the right amount for this Halloween season. This is also a bully redemption story with the bully falling in love with the person they bullied and I really enjoyed how they handled both of the characters’ feelings for a novella. However, I think there were too many added events that made it longer than it needed to be (of course again that’s personal preference. Overall though, I would recommend this novella if you need a spooky romance. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Ghosted

This novella is not what I expected but, it was still a fun time. This talks about two lawyers that used to work together and fall in love, and then they ghosted each other for six months and reconnect over some candy and a case. Overall its a cute story and everything wrapped up nicely however, I wasn’t really invested in the story and didn’t mind finishing it at a later time. Because of these points, I have to give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars or 3 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣.
