Weekly Check-in 10/16/2021

Hey guys how’s it going? Weekly Check-in time!!! This week was one with playing catch up on a few things.

But I did manage to watch one anime and read two volumes of manga and a novel. Onto the Media!

Anime

One Piece

This week I went down a One Piece rabbit hole,  with this group of episodes focusing on Nico Robin, Franky, and Sanji. On a personal side note, my mom caught a few episodes while I had it on the TV and she isn’t a fantasy person by any means, I caught her asking a few questions about the series and I was really happy that she asked. Overall though, its getting to be very interesting and I am curious how it continues on. Because of these points, I have to give this anime a 4-4.5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Manga

Series Continuations

Abe-kun’s Got Me Now

I always love reading this series because of how the relationship dynamic is and this volume truly ups the ante as far as the chemistry and the character development however I feel like I needed more development between the two characters and more side characters because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣🍣.

Those Not So Sweet Boys

I am not sure if I didn’t read this volume sooner because of the hype or because I didn’t want to wait for the release date of the volume after this I am not sure. However, this volume was definitely worth the wait. I know a lot of people say this but it reminds me a bunch of Waiting for Spring but with a smaller cast and more female friendships. I loved that there was more female friendships and also the family dynamic was adorable too. I am curious what the next volume holds although I am sure there will be a love triangle based on the ending (so if you’re not a fan of those probably stay away). Overall though, I love reading this volume and if you need something to swoon over, this series can work for you. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Novel

By Any Other Name

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the opportunity to read and review this book

This book was not something I was expecting to love as much as I did. It is a romance, however, I would say it is also a women’s fiction because its more about the heroine’s journey/adult life. I loved the imagery, the profound quotes and family/friendships. However, I felt there were moments that made the book go faster yet slow at the same time. Also I thought it was going to be predictable but it turned out not to be but thats more because of the journey. The ending was also very unsatisfying for me personally because I don’t really understand other than them being in love, what will happen to their careers next (will she depend on him and not edit anymore or vice versa). I’m just particular so I understand why it’s not but at the same time I don’t. There’s also some negative discussion about marriage and kids throughout the book so if that doesn’t work for you, don’t read this. Overall though, it was a cute story and I would recommend it if you need something cute yet profound at points. Because of these points, I have to give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars or 3 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣. This comes in Mar 2022 so check it out if you’re interested.

The Week Ahead

The week ahead is going to be focusing on some items that I wasn’t able to accomplish this week. I also have an announcement. This past week, I did some updates on a Kofi account which will allow anyone who supports me an opportunity to request a blog post or Instagram post from me. I will post it on my respective platform plus Kofi. If you are interested in that please support (every little bit counts) but no pressure at all. What about you guys? What did you read or watch this week? Let’s talk about it!
