Weekly Check-in 10/09/2021

Hey guys how’s it going? Weekly Check-in time! I did an experiment this week on my media consumption and it was using spinner wheels to figure out randomly what to read or watch.

I saw these a lot on YouTube and I thought this would be easier than doing a number generator and it was really fun to try.

Because of this experience and work, I was only able to consume one of each with one movie, one anime, one manga and one book. Onto the media!

Movie

Love’s Kitchen

With this movie, it has fantastic characters and hilarious lines, however, the plot was way too choppy and confusing with many plot holes. Because of these points, I have to give this movie a 3 out of 5 stars or 3 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣.

Anime

Kono oto Tomare! Sounds of Life

This is an anime that I originally found about through the Dub Talk podcast and I am so glad I found it. It gave me a mix of Chihayafuru with Your Lie in April  sprinkled in. I always enjoy learning about some Japanese culture and of course with traditional music being sprinkled in was an amazing added bonus. I love the character dynamics with there being antagonists that are understandable but at the same time, solved themselves in a fantastic way. I also enjoyed both the friendships and the relationship aspect because they are so strong. I also loved the animation and score as well. I also need a season 3 because it ended so abruptly!!!!! I need more!!! Because of these points, I have to give this a 4.5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Manga

If Witch, then Witch

So this manga is definitely one that I would read during this Halloween season. This gives me So cute it hurts vibes mixed with Chibi Vampire and Familiar Zero (without the fanservice thank goodness) This series is also perfect for teens as well. It is an adorable friendship relationship story and I am really excited to see what happens next. Because of these points, I have to give this manga a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Novel

It Sounded Better in My Head

I can definitely see why this book was nominated for an award.  This is a book that talks about acne pcos in a teen (polycystic ovarian syndrome if you’re not sure about the acronym), introverted people who have never been to a party before, an eighteen year old navigating their parent’s divorce, a first relationship, and dealing with friendships that have become their essential family. I have no words to how this book made me feel it made me feel seen it made me wonder if I read this at the age how much this leading character would have helped me. Because of these points, I have to give this book a 5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi 🍣 🍣 🍣🍣🍣. I recommend this for upper high schoolers for sure.

The Week Ahead

I have to say, this experience with the spinner wheels was very successful. I was able to find some media that has been on my list for forever and finally got to it! So one thing I do want to do is use the spinner wheel plus mood read +watch and I think that will help me get my backlog down. What about you guys? What did you read or watch this week? Also do you like doing experiments/games to try and get your backlog down? Let’s talk about it!

  1. Aw, this was an incredibly good post. Finding the time and actual effort to generate a great article… but what can I say… I put things off a whole lot and don’t manage to get nearly anything done.
