Weekly Check-in 11/14/2020

Hey guys how’s it going?? This week was a lot about utilizing my tablet this week.

Even though I have attempted watching this anime this mood is so me sometimes

Anyhow I read three volumes of manga, rewatched an anime, watched one movie with the family plus read one romance novel that I have needed to review forever ago. Let’s get started on the media!

Movie

Man of the Year

This is a movie I had never heard from Robin Williams and if you’re still feeling the election feels check this out.

With the election season coming to a close, my family and I decided to watch this movie from Robin Williams. It reminded us of the movie Dave (spoken about a couple weeks ago check it out if you want) but of course with Robin Williams and more verbal comedy than slapstick. Robin Williams is definitely one of my fave actors and did not have a disappointmenting performance (and neither did the other main actors like Jeff Goldblum, Christopher Walken, and Laura Linney to name a few). There are some horror/spooky elements in this movie though so keep that in mind when you watch it. Overall, I enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it for this time of year. 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi. 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Anime Rewatch

Say I love you

I finished up my rewatch of this series this week and ughhhh my only issue with this is that I needed more from the story it felt like it cut off from the best part. Which means that I of course got the manga. Overall I love this and its one of my favorite high school romances of all time. 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣🍣.

Manga

Series Starter

Until the Full Moon

*sound of nails going across a chalkboard* oh dear this was not the best manga series I have ever started but it was truly one of the worst. It shows incest and gives trans gender representation a bad light to me. I liked that it was paranormal and humorous like chibi vampire but otherwise blergh couldn’t stand it. Plus the last chapter felt disconnected and confusing. Because of these points, I have to give this a 2 of 5 stars or 2 sushi 🍣 🍣.

The Maid at My House

I’ll be honest, when I first saw this manga, I thought this was so adorable looking and I needed to try this out, after that I read a chapter sample and was like yes I need the rest of this volume. Finally! I was able to read this this week. I loved this in the sense of the writing and art style, but there are some verbal abuse aspects involved plus if you don’t like reading about famous people you will not like this. Overall, I cannot wait to read the rest of this series and I would absolutely recommend this to people who love fluffy and deep shoujo manga. 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Series Continuation

Perfect World

Like last week this manga series is one that fits close to my heart and im truly glad I continued this week

This series like stated last week is close to my heart. I liked this particular volume though because it shows a completely different perspective from some side characters than what we have had recently. The person who truly truly wants to help the love of their life versus the one who doesn’t want the help because of the burden it causes. In that particular instance, I was intrigued that it was presented in this volume. When it comes to the main romance itself, I want things to be resolved when they can, but I am glad that there is no rush. The self-discovery is still there (even though dummies keep getting in the way but I digress). Overall, I am glad to be reading more of this series this week. 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣🍣.

Novel

The Beat Match

I got this ARC from the Author’s ARC team I apologize for the belated review 😦

I finally got to this romance story the next book in the Showmen series. I loved the previous book Don’t go stealing my heart very much. This one though, took a bit more time to get into for me personally. I think because it mentions gun violence and grief and it was unexpected for me. I think also for a moment in the story, it felt like I knew what exactly what was going to happen, (thankfully it twisted itself before I predicted all of it so that was a win). Once I got over that though, I was able to inhale the story and enjoy the rest of the book. I would love to continue the series! Check it out if you like romances with deep subjects such as these. Because of these points, I have to give this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

The Week Ahead

This week was a lot involved with the tablet which was good because it had gotten to the point where I haven’t used it in like four months as far as reading. Next week, I hope to read more on the tablet plus a few more physical reads. Also I know im going to a special event next week that I hope to review for you guys. What about you guys? What did you read or watched this week? Do you like any of these let’s talk in the comments!
