Hey guys how’s it going? Weekly Check-in time with the theme of revisiting.

Most of the media that I consumed this week I either have watched it before or the subject matter is something I know but its been a long time, new media but I semi know the plot, that kind of thing. Because of that, I watched one movie, two anime, and one TV show. I also read one manga volume and listened to one audiobook as well. Onto the media!
Movie Rewatch
Kate and Leopold

It has truly been awhile since I watched this movie. And I love it because it shows how much chivalry can fade over time and space. In addition, it can show that some people just fit in different time periods. Overall though, if you’re looking for a romantic beautiful transcending time romance this movie is wonderful. However, the ending is too ambigious. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣🍣.
TV Show
West Wing

My family and I just finished the last season of West Wing this week. In a way I wish there was a spinoff but at the same time, I know with the history this is based off the ending took opposing views so its probably better it didn’t happen. I want to rewatch this in the sense I feel like I missed a lot plus I think I will learn even more about politics than I already do. Because of these points, I have to give this series a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣🍣. Very informative and helpful with the current political climate.
Anime
Fruits Basket Season 2 Reboot

This week I continued watching what was available on Funimation of Fruits Basket Season 2 and I enjoyed it even got me emotional a little bit. I think now that I know a bit more about characters I never exactly knew back in the original anime, I am getting more invested/involved with the other characters. I hope that more comes out soon. It ended at a weird place to me. 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣🍣.
Smile down the Runway

This anime! When I first saw that this was coming out, the glam shots and animation were so gorgeous and had to be watched as soon as possible. At first, I was speechless so much so I actually had to watch this a second time all the way to be able to have coherent thoughts because it is so good!! Its about four people trying to achieve their dreams and the struggles it takes to get there. You think at first that it is about one thing but its completely about something else. It also was very emotional for me both times because of the subject matter. If you’re not a fan of how modeling and designing work on top of parental illness, verbal abuse, hostile work environments do not watch this. But if it sounds interesting to you then please check it out. 4.5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣🍣.
Audiobook
Ready Player One

Sigh, I have watched this movie a couple of times and it intrigued me (as well as my boyfriend) enough to check out the book. My boyfriend loves it. Me I love it too but at the same time I don’t and here’s why.
First, if you are not a pop culture of essentially everything 80s video game, anime, and overall entertainment there are some stuff you may not understand (I knew quite a bit but even that scratched the surface.) So if that doesn’t interest you along with virtual reality do not read or watch this.
Second, comparing the two items the movie and the book can pretty much stand on their own. The book dives into a lot more tangents and information as well as had a lot more detail which I appreciated when the movie took a lot of shortcuts that made things a bit shorter in time but didn’t make the most sense sometimes…..so I think as far as that’s concerned treat them as standalone items. But overall, I liked the book more in the world building aspect, but the movie was fun to see if I would even like the story (since gaming and some pop culture I know nothing about and kind of get bored on something). So keep that in mind when comparing the book and movie.
This book though did have some problems. Audiobook wise it was a good one to listen to except the narrator mispronounced a couple of words that irritated me to no end. In addition to that, there were a lot of moments that were insulting, pretentious, cruel, and overall disgusting. Of course that could have just been because I haven’t read in a teenage boy’s head in awhile or because of the time I’m not sure but I want everyone who wants to read this to keep those items in mind plus to let you know that the book does this a lot more than the movie does.
Overall though, this didn’t 180 change my perspective on the franchise as a whole, but I would have definitely changed certain aspects for sure. Solid 3.5 out of 5 stars or 3 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣.
Manga
My Pathetic Vampire Life

So because of the Halloween season, I wanted to read about some vampires. This is about a vampire who goes to the same year of high school (in this volume for the 134th time) and feels like his life is very mundane. But this year seems very different for some reason. I think when it comes to vampire anime/manga series I love the ones that are more fun than serious more slice of life. This reminds me of the series Chibi Vampire in that aspect. However, it was a lot more fun in the fact that it was not an issue that there are vampires in this world a lot like Warm bodies (except with vampires and not zombies) and less conflict in this manga than the book. My only issue was that there was a lot of repetition involved which there were moments I wasn’t sure what chapter I was on. Overall though, I enjoyed my time with this volume. Because of these points, I have to give this manga volume a 3.5 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣🍣.
The Week Ahead
This next week is the week of Halloween so I am sure there will be some spooky stories but I am definitely going to go for a lot of spookiness and fluff. What about you guys? What did you read and watch this week? Let’s talk about it in the comments!
I didn’t listen to the audiobook of Ready Player One, but I got bogged down with a lot of the details.
