Weekly Check-in 10/17/2020

Hey guys how’s it going? This Weekly Check-in involves a lot of reading (in a good way of course). It also involved watching some shows that I have enjoyed recently. This week I read two audiobooks, I read one volume of manga, I watched a TV show Special and rewatched an anime I love and enjoy. Onto the media!

TV Show Special

West Wing Reunion Episode

This week I watched the West Wing Reunion special with my parents. You don’t have to watch the entire show to get the context but some of it helps. Its definitely something right now that needs to be watched if you can. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣🍣.

Graphic Novel/Audiobook

Nimona

This book is in its own unique area because I read the audiobook of this graphic novel: I know that’s strange but it was only two hours with a full cast and sound effects etc. (Highly recommend if you do not own the graphic novel). To the content itself, its hilarious, fascinating, but also an overall fun romp of a story. One thing I have to say about it though is that they say damn quite a bit in this so I don’t recommend it for the really young kiddos but every one else I would highly highly recommend 4.5 out of 5 stars or 5 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣🍣🍣.

Novel/Audiobook

To Be Honest

Ooh this book has a lot both dark and light. Trigger warnings for verbal abuse, disordered eating, miscommunication out the wazoo. The audio book itself was a good one however the sister character was too butchsounding for my liking (too much like a man to distinguish when there’s another man in the room).

To the content itself, it was profound, had some adorable content, there were even some jazz band, college, and journalism items and family comparisons throughout the story too.

I think overall though, there was just too much all packed into this that could’ve been solved with a couple of well rounded conversations or could have gotten divided into two books. This is just me though and I enjoyed it regardless. Because of these points, I have to give this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣🍣.

So Cute it Hurts vol 3

Ahhhhhh 🥰🥰😍😍😍 I love this series still. There were love confessions in this volume things are going very well with some twists. I think the leading guy with the eye patch is so adorable and the chibi artstyle is cute as well so I am eager to read another volume of this series especially since its very fluffy and fun yet dramatic all at the same time. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars or 4 sushi 🍣 🍣🍣🍣. Check out this series if you haven’t already.

Anime Rewatch

Run with the Wind

Run with the Wind is a show that shows individual as well as group strength very well. Running can be a physical thing but also a metaphor for moving forward with everything you can. There’s so many layers involved with this anime as well both emotionally and physically. There are other animes that may do this just as well but if you’re looking for a college level male camraderie who are striving for one big event check this out 4.5 stars or 5 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣🍣.

The Week Ahead
