Weekly Check-In 6/6/2020

Today I am going to discuss my weekly check-in. Due to starting something new with my life last week, I have mostly been watching a lot of TV series with my parents plus I have read a little bit with starting one book and finishing one manga. Onto the media!

Manga

I Want To Eat Your Pancreas

This bookmark is from the shop Bibliophileprints and they have a variety of bookmarks, pins, shirts, etc.

I finally finished this!!!!!!! It was not a slog but I am sure you guys are tired of me talking about this manga. It was definitely something that although I have watched the movie before, reading this manga was a fantastic ride that hit on my heartstrings. Because of these points, I have to give this manga a 4.5 out of 5 stars or 4.5 sushi 🍣🍣🍣🍣🍣

Novel

A Heart so Fierce and Broken

I loved a curse so dark and lonely so much that I decided to get all the merch I could involved with it. Pictured with the book is a book sleeve I bought with fanart on it with Commander Grey being the one shown in this (he’s awesome right now).

I am reading this as my on the go book this week after finishing the manga I was reading. I am not sure how I am feeling about the characters that are moving over from the previous book, but I am enjoying the new characters introduced so far and I am curious to see how things continue and what the setup for the finale is.

Miniseries

Byron

The actor who played Sherlock in Elementary is the star in this and 😝 yuck he is as slimy as Sherlock I think he’s getting typecast

I am halfway through this miniseries with my dad and we think it is interesting so far but πŸ™ˆ it is disgusting in the sense that although Lord Byron is a fantastic poet; as a character though, ahh! I hate him so much!!!

This is essentially the life of Lord Byron during the start of his poetry career / his adult life.

TV Shows

Little Men

This cover definitely gives this Little House on the Prairie vibes and I can definitely see that but do not get them confused they are completely different.

This is a series my dad found while looking all over Amazon Prime for something that would interest everyone in the household and we were pleasantly surprised. My first classics were actually Louisa May Alcott books one of them being Little Men. This series created in 1998 takes some creative liberties of course as an adaptation, but I think it still brings home the feels of the books.

The synopsis is as follows: “The recently widowed Jo March Behr continues to run the school she and her late husband founded, a school for boys called “Plumfield”

There is definitely so much more involved of course but I definitely recommend this for people who enjoy Louisa May Alcott’s characters as much as we do.

The IT Crowd

My boyfriend introduced me to this one while I was in college and definitely relieved some stress back then

My parents and I actually started this today. However, it is a rewatch for me. Humor is something that I can be hit or miss with sometimes especially what is presented in this particular show, but I can definitely tell you that it is definitely nice in small doses especially the slapstick.

The synopsis from Wikipedia is as follows: “The IT Crowd is set in the offices of Reynholm Industries, a fictional British corporation in central London, located at 123 Carenden Road. It focuses on the shenanigans of three members of the IT support team located in a dingy, untidy, and unkempt basement – a great contrast to the shining modern architecture and stunning London views enjoyed by the rest of the organisation.”

The Week AheadΒ

I guess my goal this week is to finish A Heart so Fierce and Broken and to finish some shows I have started. In addition, I want to watch some more anime since I feel I lacked some this week. What about you guys? What are you going to do this week ahead? Let’s talk about it!
